The Origin Story
"The Power of the Mind," published at fourteen.
The September 1987 issue of The Rainbow Magazine ran Andrew's artificial-intelligence article under the headline "The Power of the Mind." The piece taught a home computer to ask questions, classify animals, learn from mistakes and expand its decision tree over time.

Current Work
Biocurrent: AI-driven, non-invasive brain-wave therapy.
Biocurrent combines device engineering, EEG acquisition, machine-learning classification and closed-loop modulation to target chronic pain, dementia, Alzheimer's disease and addiction.

The work pairs non-invasive EEG acquisition with an AI classifier and stimulation stage that evaluates cortical state continuously. The result is a clinical-development platform for changing brain-wave activity without implanted hardware.

At fourteen, Andrew published source code for machine categorization and decision-making in Rainbow Magazine's September 1987 cover feature, then founded High Altitude Software.

Authored rental- and transactional-comparables systems used by Comps InfoSystems and cited across major real-estate coverage during the 1990s property-market cycle.

Built Portfolio and early pricing algorithms
Conceived, built and sold Portfolio — multifamily's first widely adopted business-intelligence platform — in under six months. Blount also describes authoring the original YieldStar pricing algorithm in this period. Both became part of RealPage in 2002.

Served Laguna Hills as councilmember and mayor
Brought a fiscal and analytical agenda to local government, including balanced budgets, pension-debt focus and water-rate reform.

Helped lead the RealPage turnaround
Rejoined in December 2015, ten weeks before the share price bottomed, and rose to Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer — a named executive officer in 2017 and 2018. Revenue grew from $468 million to $988 million across his tenure; the company later sold to Thoma Bravo at a $10.2 billion enterprise value.

Elected in 2012 at the top of a five-candidate field on certified county results, chosen Mayor Pro Tem by unanimous council vote that December, and elected Mayor — again unanimously — in December 2013. Applied a founder's operating discipline to budgets, pension obligations, water rates and resident-facing accountability.

Community Tradition
The Orange County Christmas Lights show.
For six seasons, from 2009 through 2014, the Blount family home in Laguna Hills was one of the best-known Christmas displays in America: 120,000 LEDs across 812 channels, every frame drawn by hand and set to music broadcast on 100.1 FM. Visitors texted a number and watched their words appear on a six-foot LED board in the front yard — seven marriage proposals happened in front of it — while some 1,800 gallons of hot cider went out each season and a fire engine collected over 2,000 toys a year for the Spark of Love drive.
